Oval Engagement Rings
Oval engagement rings have a center stone with a rounded, elongated shape. Some ovals are long and narrow, while others are shorter and wider. The stone’s proportions, side stones, and band details all affect how the finished ring looks on your finger.
A Longer Oval or a Wider Shape
A long, narrow oval draws attention along the finger. A wider oval has a fuller outline and covers more space from side to side.
The stone’s length and width help explain this difference. Carat weight alone does not show how large it will look, because some of that weight sits in the stone’s depth. Two ovals with the same weight can therefore look different in size and shape.
How Side Stones Change the Ring
Side stones add detail beside the oval center. Half moon stones follow its rounded edges, while baguettes introduce straight lines. Pear, triangle, and other shapes create different combinations around the center.
Smaller side stones keep attention on the oval. Larger stones spread the design across more of the finger. Three stone and five stone rings offer both approaches, depending on the sizes and spacing of the stones.
Simple Bands or Decorative Details
A plain metal band gives the ring a simple finish and keeps the center stone prominent.
Twisted bands add flowing lines, while split bands divide into two sections near the center setting. Tiny bead like details along the metal edges give some rings a vintage look. Leaf shaped accents and small groups of stones add more decoration beside the oval.
These and other band styles let you choose how much detail you want around the main stone.
Different Ways an Oval Can Sparkle
Oval stones can share the same outline but have different patterns of sparkle.
Crushed ice moissanite shows many small reflections. Step-cut ovals have larger, more clearly defined facets : the flat, polished surfaces on a stone. Rose-cut and portrait-cut styles offer other looks, with less emphasis on dense sparkle.
The choice comes down to whether you enjoy a lively pattern of small reflections or a simpler look within the stone.
Color in the Center or Around It
A colored oval that has white accented details which draw the eye. In the collection we see pink tourmaline, aquamarine, ruby, and also other gemstones which bring in various colors, also we have colored moissanite. Some rings put colored stones around a white center which in turn puts the focus on the perimeter detail.
Also we have the simple look of a single colored stone on a plain band which in this case puts the main attention on the stone.
